I don’t think a day goes by at the Charlotte store without me mentioning the work of Sally Peek, the owner and creator of Nana by Sally. I LOVE her work, but more then that I love her personality, her success story and her super strong hugs when we reunite.

Sally walked into our very first Charlotte store about 10 years ago as a new mom in need of a creative outlet. Today she runs her own successful company. I would like to take some credit for that please, but I probably don’t deserve it!

I share her story so often because I feel like many of our creative customers can be as successful as Sally, it takes years of work, and it happens slowly and with many setbacks, but it is so worth the labor of love. Mama made a brand new bag!

Sally Peek is the creator of Nana products. A week after taking a one-day sewing class in 2007, Sally was drafting original handbag patterns, constructing them out of her kitchen and selling them to family and friends.

A month later, Sally had applied for a business license and officially named the business after the most influential matriarch in her family: her great-grandmother, Nana. Believing that life is ultimately about people, Sally names each design after a family member or close friend. (I think there is an Ewa somewhere too! Maybe spelled Eva).

No scrap left behind

Nana creates and sells unique, handmade, one-of-a-kind and limited-run handbags, all designed and produced, with love and pride, in Columbia, South Carolina, USA. Our leather and textile products utilize end-bolts of fabrics (otherwise destined for a landfill) and leather “seconds” (leathers that may have minor imperfections.)  

We ensure that these materials are of the best quality and our use of them yields a product that is not only well-made but also created with a social and environmental consciousness.
